At-Home Meditations

Everyone agrees that stress is an epidemic, but what is less well-known is the impact chronic stress can have on our weight. Medical experts agree that learning how to manage stress is a key tool for successfully reaching & maintaining a healthy weight. There are several different stress management techniques that have been shown to be effective – physical activity, meditation, and breathing exercises are especially great options.

Researchers from John Hopkins University have found that general mindfulness meditation programs help improve symptoms of anxiety, depression, and pain related to stress. Many studies have consistently shown that meditation can result in less anxiety, lower blood pressure, better sleep, and even an improved immune system.

You don’t need to have any prior experience to start meditating, and you don’t have to buy any equipment or commit to anything beyond taking a few minutes a day to start developing skills that can improve your life. We have three different audio meditations you can listen to and follow along with to get started:

Body Scan Meditation

Breath Meditation

Loving-Kindness Meditation

Start with whichever one you’re most interested in and dedicate the time to doing it every day for the upcoming week. Your physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing is worth it.
